We watched the Phantom of the Opera last December 9 during our E.E.P. at our AVR room. It was a theater play that was filmed by a camera. I must say that the it was a great show because it had a very interesting plot in to it and the voices of the main characters and singers were just great.
According to my research about the play “The Phantom of the Opera” is a film based on a novel “Le Fantôme de l'Opéra” by French writer Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serialisation in Le Gaulois from September 23, 1909 to January 8, 1910.
It looked gorgeous, the singing for some reason has been slated a lot by critics but I thought the singing was wonderful and everyone should be applauded especially the two leads and they were brilliant. The songs sound as good as ever, there was one thing that really ticked me off with some reviewers they have said "The songs are in desperate need in updating" and all I can say to that is "Don't change perfection because its already perfect."
To be honest, I am actually not a fan of plays especially when it comes to musical plays. It bores me out. But there's something about this play that made me appreciate and see things a little bit different now when it comes to theatrical plays. I can say that our professor has great taste and she knows what to show her students when it comes to classical plays.
