Ignite Speech

The School of Management held an event last December 22, 2015 at the APC auditorium and the event was named Ignite Speech. There was only one representative per block at the said event and the presentation will have 20 slides which you will present for 15 seconds per slide.

The contestants were all prepared and they all deserved a loud and cheerful clap at the end because each and every one of them delivered their speeches very well.

We had Jelee Llarenas representing our block, she talked about the "life of being a soldier's daughter" which was amazing and breath taking because of the emotions that was put on the script. She was great in every single way, too bad she did not bring the biggest bacon home.

Kudos to the champion for his outstanding performance and for the great topic he has chosen to present. His topic was about the "Different types of people in the classroom" which captivated the audience because everything he said was a fact and everyone in the room clearly relates to everything he said.

He deserved the citation and the award. I expect to see more great performances from him soon.

Filipino Author

I was assigned to make a blog about a specific author but I honestly forgot who it was so I'm making a blog for our very own Jose Rizal instead.

JOSE RIZAL, the national hero of the Philippines and pride of the Malayan race, was born on June 19, 1861, in the town of Calamba, Laguna. He was the seventh child in a family of 11 children. Both his parents were educated and belonged to distinguished families.

He was an expert swordsman and a good shot. In the hope of securing political and social reforms for his country and at the same time educate his countrymen, Rizal, the greatest apostle of Filipino nationalism, published, while in Europe, several works with highly nationalistic and revolutionary tendencies.

In March 1887, his daring book, NOLI ME TANGERE, a satirical novel exposing the arrogance and despotism of the Spanish clergy, was published in Berlin; in 1890 he reprinted in Paris, Morga’s SUCCESSOS DE LAS ISLAS FILIPINAS with his annotations to prove that the Filipinos had a civilization worthy to be proud of even long before the Spaniards set foot on Philippine soil; on September 18, 1891, EL FILIBUSTERISMO, his second novel and a sequel to the NOLI and more revolutionary and tragic than the latter, was printed in Ghent. Because of his fearless exposures of the injustices committed by the civil and clerical officials, Rizal provoked the animosity of those in power.

This led himself, his relatives and countrymen into trouble with the Spanish officials of the country. As a consequence, he and those who had contacts with him, were shadowed; the authorities were not only finding faults but even fabricating charges to pin him down.

Thus, he was imprisoned in Fort Santiago from July 6, 1892 to July 15, 1892 on a charge that anti-friar pamphlets were found in the luggage of his sister Lucia who arrive with him from Hong Kong. While a political exile in Dapitan, he engaged in agriculture, fishing and business; he maintained and operated a hospital; he conducted classes- taught his pupils the English and Spanish languages, the arts.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is the process or act of performing a presentation (a speech) focused around an individual directly speaking to a live audience.

I have learned a lot this English term but I think the one thing that I will sure never forget is my lessons in Public Speaking classes. It thought a lot of things. From postures to gestures, from eye contact to pronunciation. This is the type of learning that I will bring with me even when I'm already graduate.

We had a very productive day last December 21 because it was our Public Speaking competition. I must say that all of the contestants were great without a doubt and they deserve a good grade because it takes a lot to be on stage in front of a lot of people, not knowing if their going to like your piece or not.

Their were 9 nine finalists on the said event and the 1st runner up happens to be from our block, Ms. Eno Mejico! I'm very proud of what she achieved because she has a talent in speaking and she did it like a natural. Kudos to the champion though!

Plagiarism

   Plagiarism

According to Wikipedia. Plagiarism is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions like penalties, suspension, and even expulsion. Recently, cases of 'extreme plagiarism' have been identified in academia

Plagiarism is a form of cheating that is strictly prohibited in school. Because it promotes laziness and the lack of willingness to do or finish the said work.

There are some intellectual challenges that all students are faced with when writing. Sometimes these challenges can almost seem like contradictions, particularly when addressing them within a single paper.

What is Plagiarism? In instructional settings, plagiarism is a multifaceted and ethically complex problem. However, if any definition of plagiarism is to be helpful to administrators, faculty, and students, it needs to be as simple and direct as possible within the context for which it is intended.

Learning from other peoples work is a good thing but taking the credit for the work you did not even write is bad. There are ways on  how you can avoid this. My one method is reading and analyzing the words and then paraphrasing it into a whole new sentence which still gives it the same definition. It can't be copying if what you wrote is not as exact as what you read.

Speech Choir

"At Christmas" by Edgar A. Guest

Last December 22, 2015 our college had a speech choir contest and the piece that we had to perform was "At Christmas" and we made 1st Runner Up in the contest. We weren't the actual winners but being 1st Runner Up was sure worth it. We worked hard to reach what we reached and I am proud of what our block has produced.

The TM151 were the champions for the said competition and AC151 was 3rd runner up. All I can say from this event is that it thought me on how to be one with the group and learn together as a whole. Because no one reaches it to the top by themselves, we need each others help to reach success and my block is a very good example of it!

Phantom of the Opera

We watched the Phantom of the Opera last December 9 during our E.E.P. at our AVR room. It was a theater play that was filmed by a camera. I must say that the it was a great show because it had a very interesting plot in to it and the voices of the main characters and singers were just great.

According to my research about the play “The Phantom of the Opera” is a film based on a novel “Le Fantôme de l'Opéra” by French writer Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serialisation in Le Gaulois from September 23, 1909 to January 8, 1910.

It looked gorgeous, the singing for some reason has been slated a lot by critics but I thought the singing was wonderful and everyone should be applauded especially the two leads and they were brilliant. The songs sound as good as ever, there was one thing that really ticked me off with some reviewers they have said "The songs are in desperate need in updating" and all I can say to that is "Don't change perfection because its already perfect."

To be honest, I am actually not a fan of plays especially when it comes to musical plays. It bores me out. But there's something about this play that made me appreciate and see things a little bit different now when it comes to theatrical plays. I can say that our professor has great taste and she knows what to show her students when it comes to classical plays.

Pepero

APC's PEPERO DAY!

During the Pepero Day, there are really a bunch of stuff to do. A lot of games that you can use either your strategic skills or physical skills in those situation.

Asia Pacific's Pepero day was made possible by the APJMA (Asia Pacific Junior Marketing Association) it was held last November 11, 2015.

The event was a success and there was lot's of fun programs made, though most of it was games but most it contained the usage of your strategic skills or physical skills in those situation.

There are also free Peperos, you just have to register your name, other contact info, etc. and your perquisite is good to go. There's also a photo-booth that Pepero organized during the event, and students really enjoyed taking pictures showing off their free Peperos.
